Seeking expert to define a credible sustainability scoring system
Overview
We are developing a new sustainability and ethics rating that helps people understand how responsibly products are made. The aim is to create something simple enough for consumers to trust, credible enough for regulators, and valuable enough for responsible businesses.
Our goal is to build a clear, transparent scoring system that evaluates how businesses and their products perform across key areas such as People, Planet, Packaging, Materials, and Purpose.
At this stage we have an initial structure and concept, but we would like to speak with an experienced sustainability or ESG consultant who can help us stress test our thinking, identify gaps, and advise on the best approach to building a credible rating framework.
What We Are Looking For
We are not looking for a fixed project quote yet. We want to talk to someone who can help shape the brief.
You might be a:
Sustainability Consultant or ESG Advisor experienced in developing frameworks, impact models, or certifications
ESG Analyst familiar with scoring and benchmarking across sustainability dimensions
Impact or Supply Chain Specialist who understands materials, packaging, or production ethics
You will help us:
Review our early thinking and category structure
Advise on which metrics or data points matter most
Suggest practical next steps to validate or pilot the framework
Help us understand what a realistic scope, budget, and timeline might look like
Our Goal for the First Call
We want an open conversation to explore:
What a credible scoring system would require technically
What level of data or verification is realistic for small independent sellers
How to balance rigour with simplicity
Where we might need further expertise
